CharityView was founded by Hugh Thomas, a senior marketing professional with many years fundraising and marketing experience. Hugh has an unusual background in that his career has spanned both the commercial and charitable sectors.
As a Marketing Manager and subsequently as Marketing Director, he worked for organisations that included the Orient - Express, Thomas Cook and Berger Paints. In 1995, he moved into the charitable sector, firstly as a Regional Controller for Guide Dogs for the Blind. Subsequent career moves saw him head up the re-branding of the Distressed Gentlefolks Aid Association to become the Elizabeth Finn Trust and more recently, the re-branding of PDSA as the charity for ‘pets in need of vets’. Hugh’s particular strength is the co-ordination of projects large and small, from concept to completion. Working with the help of fellow professionals on a project by project basis, CharityView is able to achieve results that exceed all expectations. Hugh is now a registered Professional and Technical Aid Service (PTAS) consultant of the Digbeth Trust in Birmingham.

The CharityView team ranges from designers, copywriters and PR professionals to web designers, analysts and researchers. The team offers a mix of commercial acumen and extensive experience of working for a wide range of different charities. Specific skills range from the preparation of strategic plans at one end of the scale through to the development of detailed fundraising and promotional campaigns at the other.
All charities are constrained by costs and smaller charities more than most. CharityView’s services are priced to reflect this fact. Fundraising and marketing support can be accessed on a part time, interim or project basis. Areas of expertise include:
- Strategic Planning

- Image and identity
